Julie Donald, a Silwood-qualified chef, cut her teeth in the wedding cake industry but found her true passion teaching. For many years her focus was teaching cake decorating and assisting women to being their own successful home-based baking businesses.
Post-COVID, Julie’s kitchen has been open for social cooking classes, and due to the unprecedented success of these classes she has moved her focus to those class styles. Cakes will always be at her heart so Saturday morning classes are saved for all the sweet stuff!
Julie is a mom of 3, including twins and a self-proclaimed smarty-pants, who likes making marmalade, listening to true crime podcasts and taking road trips through the Karoo.
Classes – Cooking and Baking
Social learning at its best! In these classes we work as a group to create a variety of dishes. These are hands-on classes but you will be working as a group and we will all taste the goodies at the end of the class.
Classes run in the evening from 6-9pm or mornings from 10am – 1pm, bring your drinks and an apron and have a blast!
Hands-on Workshops – Cake Decorating
Fun hands-on workshops, focused on specific skills or designs. Focus on current trends. Each person has their own item to work on which you take home at the end of the class.
Workshops usually run on Saturday mornings from 9am – 1pm, bring an apron and relax and enjoy!
Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be served. All hands-on workshops are suitable for beginners and confident bakers.
Stitch and B*tch – Fibre Arts Circle
A fun evening of socialising, learning and tasting all for a good cause! Bring along your crochet/knitting/embroidery to work on, OR come and learn a new skill. Julie will be teaching beginner knitting and crochet.
Circle runs on the second Monday of the month.
(R100 per person, 2 hours) – proceeds go to charity
Incudes coffee and a dessert tasting – recipe testing for our BOOK!
Suitable for all skill levels. Tweens and teens welcome!
